Klipfolio Level-Up is a hands-on, intermediate training designed to help you move beyond the basics and start building dashboards that are smarter, more flexible, and truly decision-ready.

If you’ve mastered simple visualizations but still struggle with filters, dynamic date groupings, or aligning the right data with the right timeframes, this is for you. You’ll learn techniques that are hard to find in documentation but essential in real projects.

By the end of this training, you'll be able to:

• Build dashboards with dynamic filters using user input controls
• Align values correctly on timelines using variables and formulas
• Group data by day, week, or month based on user selections
• Prepare your data with modelled sources for scalability and clarity
• Use intermediate to advanced functions like GROUPBY, LOOKUP, and custom conditions
• Deliver dashboards that are responsive to real-world business needs

This live training is split into two 4-hour sessions, delivered over two consecutive days, for a total of 8 hours.

On Day 1, we focus on custom filters, user input controls, and variables. You’ll learn how to make your dashboards more interactive, flexible, and responsive, from setting up user-driven filters to grouping data by day, week, or month.

Day 2 is where we level up your formulas and data prep. We’ll work with modelled data sources, troubleshoot common Klipfolio issues (like misaligned dates or inconsistent results), and explore advanced functions like GROUPBY, LOOKUP, conditional logic and nested formulas.

• The option to submit a sample of your own (anonymized) data

Day 1 – Filters, Variables & Flexibility

Goal: Learn how to build dashboards that respond to user inputs, adjust dynamically to timeframes, and offer a more tailored experience for decision-makers.

• Period Granularity – Create time-based breakdowns you can toggle between

Day 2 – Modelling and FormulasGoal: Develop robust data foundations and apply advanced formulas.

• Recap & Warm-Up - Quick review of Day 1 and open questions
• Modelled Data Sources – When to use it and how to prep, clean, and structure your data
• Complex Formulas – Conditionals, Nesting, GROUPBY, LOOKUP
• Timeline Alignment & Date Logic - Fix common issues with mismatched or missing values on time axes
• Calculations with DATETIME - Accurately calculate time-based variables
• Q&A and Wrap-Up - Final clarifications, resources, and tips for continued learning

To get the most out of this hands-on Klipfolio training, please ensure you have the following:

• A laptop or desktop computer with a stable internet connection
• An active Klipfolio account with the necessary permissions to upload, edit, and delete data sets, as well as create and modify Klips and dashboards

Do I need to complete the beginner course first?

Not necessarily. If you're already comfortable building basic Klips and dashboards in Klipfolio you are good to go.

Where does the training take place?

This is a live online training led in real time (not pre-recorded). You’ll receive a video call link a few days before the start, along with setup instructions and all event details.

What if I can’t attend both days?

The sessions are designed to build on each other, so full attendance is highly recommended. If something comes up, reach out and we’ll explore possible solutions.

What if I’m not sure if I’m advanced enough?

If you can build basic dashboards and are familiar with Klipfolio’s layout and interface, you’re in the right place. You don’t need to be a formula expert - that’s what we’ll work on together.
