Geta Viasu-Räisänen, founder of Light On Analytics.

I am Geta Viasu-Räisänen, Geta for short.

I did not set out to work in data.

"Data can sometimes feel chaotic, like a buzzing beehive. But when you know where to look, you will find structure, patterns, and stories worth listening to."

How I ended up in data

My first job after university was at an advertising agency in Helsinki. We were working on a campaign for a stand-up comedian, I suggested we try Facebook ads, and since there was nobody there to run them, I ran them. What I liked was not the campaign. It was the numbers underneath it.

I moved to Munich for a master's in communication management, expecting to go further into social media. A professor there pointed me towards analytics instead. I worked on a project with Mercedes-Benz Consulting and wrote my thesis on Groupon's data. That was it. My first data job was at Sky Deutschland, as a Product Analyst in the Business Intelligence department.

My career then took me to Personio, one of Germany's tech unicorns, where I worked as a Business Intelligence Analyst in the CX department.

Munich is still one of my favourite places, but becoming a mother changed my priorities. Compromising my career was never on the table, so I decided to build more flexibility into my schedule. In 2025 I started Light On Analytics.

What I bring

I did not learn data first and business second. I came from the side that has the questions, and I still think in questions rather than in tables.

The gap

Most of the businesses I work with are perfectly capable. They have systems, they have people who know their numbers, and they rely on static, manual reports to answer business questions. A report that works at one stage of the business can turn into someone's full job as the business grows. As the volume of data grows, so does the disconnect between questions and answers.

Ten years of range

In ten years I have built data sources, untangled broken ones, written queries and designed hundreds of dashboards. That range gives me experience, speed and versatility. It also lets me tell you early on what is possible and what is not.

Everything I build follows the same rule. I call it the 15-Second Standard: the essential answer in fifteen seconds, and the "why" right underneath it.

Custom work

Not everything fits a product. Brookaire started as one dashboard and became fifteen months of work. If what you need is not on this list, or you are not sure which of the two fits your case, tell me what you are trying to do and I will tell you whether I can help.
