How I ended up in data
My first job after university was at an advertising agency in Helsinki. We were working on a campaign for a stand-up comedian, I suggested we try Facebook ads, and since there was nobody there to run them, I ran them. What I liked was not the campaign. It was the numbers underneath it.
I moved to Munich for a master's in communication management, expecting to go further into social media. A professor there pointed me towards analytics instead. I worked on a project with Mercedes-Benz Consulting and wrote my thesis on Groupon's data. That was it. My first data job was at Sky Deutschland, as a Product Analyst in the Business Intelligence department.
My career then took me to Personio, one of Germany's tech unicorns, where I worked as a Business Intelligence Analyst in the CX department.
Munich is still one of my favourite places, but becoming a mother changed my priorities. Compromising my career was never on the table, so I decided to build more flexibility into my schedule. In 2025 I started Light On Analytics.
